一呼百應 (yī hū bǎi yìng):

  • = "one"
  • = "call"
  • = "hundred"
  • = "respond"

i.e. "when one has something to say, many come to listen":

  • those who have clout will hold the loudspeaker
  • those who do not will have a muffled mouth
  • "not what one says, not even how one says it, but who says it"
  • warning: take care not to lean too much on who says something
    • take heed what is said and if it stems from a ground truth
