一呼百應 (yī hū bǎi yìng):
- 一 = "one"
- 呼 = "call"
- 百 = "hundred"
- 應 = "respond"
i.e. "when one has something to say, many come to listen":
- those who have clout will hold the loudspeaker
- those who do not will have a muffled mouth
- "not what one says, not even how one says it, but who says it"
