the Norwegian Dawn ship docked in Hernesaari (near Helsinki), Finland on June 17th:
docking in Hernesaari, it was a some ways away from downtown:
- many chose the "hop on hop off" buses for "dozens of euro" per head
- also waiting nearby was a 15-minute shuttle ride (for 12 euro per head)
if you do your "10,000 steps per day" every day, walking around downtown Helsinki is a breeze and rather cheap:
- Kauppatori ("market")
- the outdoor market that most see first
- orange tents have food
- white tents sell souvenirs
- the outdoor market that most see first
- Helsingin kaupunginmuseo ("Helsinki city museum")
- free to go in
- learn about the Finnish ways of life
- free to go in
- Senaatintori ("Senate square")
- the meeting hub for all "guided tours"
- Esplanadi ("the esplanade")
- the park where something always happens
- Oodi ("the ode")
- the "library" that gives so much more than books
- a hub for meeting, for playing, for learning and for making stuff
wanted to see more but the ship bounded my time
Helsinki would become a "must-come-again"
