August 28, 2014 : the Europe sightseeing trip brought me from Amsterdam to Brussels, Belgium for the afternoon:
"highlights"
- Atomium (built in 1958 for the World's Fair) in the outer swaths of Brussels
- "space age" craftwork still looked like it came from the 2050s
- Grand Place for the shoppers on the trip:
- cheese, chocolates and craft beer for all
- anyone not a shopper could take in the breath-taking buildings with gilded everything
- flowers and water spouts throughout the middle of the shopping hub
- Mannekin Pis, a 17th century fountain-statue of a "small man peeing"
