2014 in Switzerland (Lucerne and Titlis)

August 22, 2014 : the Europe sightseeing trip made its way to Lucerne (German: Luzern) Switzerland:

"highlights"

in Lucerne:

• Kapellbrücke (chapel bridge)
  • a covered footbridge on the River Reuss
• Löwendenkmal (the Lion Monument)
  • a lion-shaped sculpture carved out of rock

the next day we went to the heart of the Alps to a spot known as Titlis:

• it was August, but at 3,000 m above the sea, it felt like February!
• saw snow and ice in the middle of the summer

later that day, we would head south from Titlis and into Ticino (Italian Switzerland):

• the weather slowly got warmer
• saw a palm tree at the border of Switzerland and Italy
