2014 in Germany (Munich)

August 21, 2014 : the Europe sightseeing trip took me to Munich (München), Bavaria (Bayern), Germany (Deutschland)

"background"

• 1.5 million call Munich home, with its own underground (U-Bahn) but also with that old, "small town feel"
• Bavaria (German: Bayern) has its own culture-within-a-culture, with its own “Boarisch” speed that even "other Germans" would need to learn!

"highlights"

a common day for an outlander in Munich:

• went to the Hofbrauhaus ("yard brew house"),
  • well-known for its Oktoberfest
  • men decked in Lederhosen for that kitschy Bavarian feel
  • evening meal of:
    • Schweinshaxe (roasted pork knuckle)
    • Sauerkraut (cabbage)
    • Knödel (dumplings)
• the next morning to see Neuschwanstein Castle
  • some ways away from Munich but still in Germany
