2025 in Norway (Oslo)
strolling through town and seeing the midnight daylight
2025-06-27 16:59 // updated 2026-03-02 23:39
after an hours-long sailing through the breath-taking Oslofjord
the fittingly-called Norwegian Dawn cruise landed in Oslo, Norway
docked at Tjuvholmen on the afternoon for the rest of June 25th
then to sail away again on the afternoon of the 26th
from the dock the walk to downtown Oslo took only 20 minutes
after many days of the other towns in the north lands
a weariness set in with "free" tour guides
so it came time to get lost in the friendly landscape
(with care and the help of Google Maps if needed)
day 1
saw a few key spots that kept things going:
- Slottsplassen (royal palace)
- Karl Johans gata (shopping street)
- got a free can of a Faxe Kondi soft drink!
- Oslo domkirke (cathedral)
- Deichman Bjørvika (a "bookery")
- top notch spot for books and coffee
- Operahus (opera house)
- the icicle look of the building
- Munchmuseet (Munch art museum)
- no fees to get in on Wednesdays after 6pm!
- Midsummer night daylight on the ship:

day 2
did not work this leg into the above film but kept it to a few snapshots:

- Bydgøynes
- Roald Amundsen and Norwegian "explorers monuments" (as above)
- Amundsen, the first to reach the "South Pole" in 1911
- Inukshuk, a Canadian-Norwegian friendship thing (as below)
- Roald Amundsen and Norwegian "explorers monuments" (as above)
