Digital hoarding refers to the collection of an excessive amount of digital content such as:

  • memes
  • photos
  • music
  • videos
  • GIFs
  • PDFs
  • e-mails
  • open source software

While those files may take up little to no physical space (aside from that of external hard drives), they can result in a lot of mental and psychological clutter.

Digital hoarders also tend to:

  • have cluttered desktops on their operating system
  • have an inbox e-mail count of several thousands (anti-inbox-zero)
  • hoard physical media such as books and DVDs
