2014 in Italy (Venice)

August 19, 2014 : after leaving Florence, the Europe sightseeing trip went to the well-known fish-shaped town of Venice (Venezia in Italian), made up only of islands in the northeast part of Italy:

"highlights"

• one either takes a ferry (or comes in by train) from the mainland
• rode the gondolas on the "canals"
• eating the blackened pasta al nero with squid ink
  • went down better than it looked!
• a mere “good morning” and “good afternoon”
  • over-run by other "outlanders" and that's too bad
• the trip then went to Padua (or Padova) for a night’s rest at a chain hotel
