2025 in Denmark (Aarhus)

(34th country) and 1st non-airport visit to Denmark

On June 24, 2025, the Norwegian Dawn cruise brought me to Aarhus, Denmark for a few hours. My one goal was to visit Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson's "Rainbow Panorama" structure, which sat on the rooftop of the ARoS (Aarhus art museum).

Reflection

Due to the short amount of time allowed, I did not visit much else of the city, other than walking on Åboulevarden (the river boulevard)!

Selectivity is an important thing about visiting museums on a cruise. It's quite impossible to visit more than one without absorbing each museum with more than just a quick pass through the exhibits. Perhaps the best way to visit these ports on a cruise is to focus only one main "thing" or "event" that defines the city. Then, whatever else happens, flows from there!

In another visit, I'll try to have a look at:

  • Dokk1
    • the big public library at the port of Aarhus
  • The Occupation Museum (Besættelsmuseet)
  • Aarhus Cathedral (Aarhus domkirke)
  • The Old Town (Den Gamla By)
